CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR CLANNAD (2007)
notes so far (ep1/2):
-- when i read the synopsis after finishing the first episode, i didn't realize that the two male protagonists were supposed to be delinquents
* maybe it's a different (looser) definition of delinquent, but it seems that both are incredibly pathetic & unfitting of a juvenile title like "deliquent"
-- fuck. the voice acting is hilarious. maybe i shouldn't have watched this in dub
* i think it's mostly a problem with 2010s anime. the voice acting took away from angel beats & i'm fearful it might carry over to clannad too
-- nagisa's dad is carrying the show
-- royalty free sfx. reminds me of south asian gameshows
-- the artstyle is quite cute. it's the bug-eyed one, an iconic symbol of 2010s anime
-- as of episode 1, my favorite scenes are related to okozaki's (?) home life. they're well-executed & the art's framing is beautiful.
* nagisa's scene where she's literally glowing is kind of astounding. maybe in a negative way. it's ridiculous. laughable even
-- the mystery behind the eternal-life girl (i'm calling her that fuck you) is really intriguing. it's got me a little hooked i won't lie
-- "there's a lot of violent girls at this school."
-- this anime is fucking dumb. like so fucking stupid. it's dumb fun, i'm almost embarrassed to participate in it
* i feel like i've been describing a lot of anime this way, i can't help it. i'm not trying to look down on this medium, but with how a lot of these shows operate, they're practically throwing themselves at the label
ep1: 6.5/10 what the hell did i just watch
