mymo is above tamsy is purely because of bias. mymo's character is so much more entertaining to me -- his eccentricity & motivation are straightforward, but it also makes for a fun antagonist (especially when watching his downfall).
this is not to say that tamsy isn't entertaining either. his panels & inner monologue are equally as funny, if not more. he's definitely playing the long game though, so this placement will 100% change once we see more into his motivations.
the rest of these characters are here because i can't form a solid opinion on them.
gil, for example, is a character with an interesting character design & ability. her weird hat & baseball bat jinki make her character so distinct to me -- but from a writing perspective, i'd like to see more of her backstory. same applies to felix. why are they working for mymo? how did gil awaken her jinki? i desperately want to know more.
enjin's down here because i don't like him. i'd like to explore his character more, but for the time being, my opinion is based on what we currently see from him -- which is that he's a total fucking idiot. the scene in the anime where he spoke to amo [in her tower] made me genuinely uncomfortable. i know it was unintentional & he apologized for it, but i can't move past the fact that he did it in the first place. sorry if this take is too woke or whatever.

if you couldn't tell, a lot of my takes are based off of merit or entertainment. i liked watching alice, therefore she's in the "ok" tier. she's pretty fun.
remlin & too lily are mostly the same. i really like their concept, but they were so fleeting. i couldn't form an attachment to remlin during the cleaners' time in canvas town & too lily only briefly appeared to exposition dump for 3 chapters. i like them, but not as much as the rest of the cast.
i put kyouka above goka because we get a lot more context w/in her character. the wiki describes her as "seductive-looking" which is both hilarious & true. she's so tuff. i love her. eishia's just as interesting. i love her jinki, but her shy character archetype isn't really my favorite. still like her, she's just not really my kind of character.

this tier is pretty disorganized. it's not in any particular order, i just really like these characters (design, personality, & lore-wise).
this is also where the tierlist gets divisive. dear santa was... alright. team child is awesome, yeah. he's just the least interesting to me. he's also 10??? i though he'd be younger, ngl. it'd be so fucking funny if he was a giver & 3 years old.
now that i'm writing it out, however, it's kind of impressive (& sad) that he's a giver at such a young age. since he seems to have some authority over his abilities, he's probably been at it for a long time. fuck, his jinki is a pacifier. obviously, he would've gotten his jinki at a young age.
the rest of team child is pretty chill. guita's jinki is so fucking sick, i can't... if she has a tragic backstory, i'm going to kill myself. that'd be hilarious, though. alsobrosantaisthebiggesthmoeverilovehimsomuchfuckkkkkk
bundus... dilf madness. love him & his arms to bits. can we get more bundus fanart? please? oh my god PLEASE? he's so coolness i want a figure of him so bad. bundus w/ his arms behind him (like a biblically accurate angel halo) would HEAL me. this'll never happen, but a girl can dream...
gountess, zodyl, kuro, & corvus are all lowkey the same to me categorically. (relatively) old mysterious men. i placed them pretty high since i'm incredibly excited to see their backstories. we've already gotten gountess' which is sick. i'm eagerly awaiting his in-person interaction with rudo (which we kind of got in ch161? he was there spiritually, i guess).
like gnomulas, you might be asking, "who is that young fellow in between tomme & follo?"
this might be a far reach back (not really if you read the manga), but that young fellow is alan. the guy from follo's backstory who wanted to be a giver.
now you might be asking, "why the fuck would you put him so high?"
i put him near follo & the other cleaners because (in my opinion at least) he was an incredibly compelling character. his character arc flatlining because of his lack of hope totally got to me. as a person who tends to frequently abandon goals, i understand this dude on a spiritual level. follo carrying his legacy on through his jinki made me a little emotional tbh... i put him up there with alan.
the gal raiders -- momoa & noerde -- have the coolest designs & coolest roles in the story. not only does noerde have a kickass backstory, but she tanked several shots to the chest & falling from the border of the sphere to the ground. her jinki is super cool in addition to her awesome character design... the clips bro. the clips are so freaking cool.
momoa's definitely one of the raiders that interests me the most. why is she working with them? how'd she get such a gnarly jinki? where do the raiders find this many cool women? all questions i'm super desperate to answer.
gosh, her jinki & storyline so far have me hooked. i want to know what happens so bad, it eats me up inside everytime there's a new update & there are no raiders to be found (which is reasonable considering the story right now, i love rudo's furry form).
fu/hii & their affiliation w/ the raiders & cleaners is so fun. i really wanted a dynamic like this, so it was super fun to see it in action. fuu reminds me of a little red panda. he's also so cute!!! i didn't expect him to be 17, though. at most, he looked 14~15 to me. also, why the fuck is hii a sentient jinki??? it scares me lawl.
regto's self-explanatory. goated character.
i thought we'd get so much more of him before i actually read the first volume. when he died i genuinely freaked out. after his death, though, his mysterious nature makes me totally itch for more. why does he have the watchman series in the first place? was he a giver, like deadass?? what were his abilities??>?? how did tamsy know to target him for the book??? kei urana if you're listening.... pleASE!!! we need more regto!!!

when kei urana revealed his backstory, i felt that shit in my bones. the need to be on top. the need to be different. he's so coolness. the fact that he starved himself in a hole as a means of self-deprecation was so compelling. love him, though he's kind of annoying sometimes. hope he beats the fraud allegations soon.

we're finally getting into absolutely goated territory. this tier is also not in any particular order... except riyo. love riyo.
rudo is one of the best protagonists in modern shonen. maybe. i don't read too much modern shonen. in my review of gachiakuta, i totally glazed him for being refreshing & angsty, which still holds up. i like how angry he is at the world, it's funny.
amo, alongside her gripping background, has a fire character design & arc. in the anime, her backstory is so beautifully portrayed -- it was singlehandedly the reason i decided to watch it. definitely top 5.
i've said this a lot in this entry, but i really fucking want more content of several different characters -- especially semiu. her journey to upgrade her jinki off-screen is so frustrating to me. i'm so desperate to see her development.
august & jabber are kind of in the same boat as alice. they enhanced the reading/watching experience simply by being themselves. they're fun, loud, & eccentric, literally my favorite type of character ever.
riyo's nature, on the other hand, is more calculated & calm. her prowess as an assassin is unmatched, she's just so freakgijng cool. i love how her jinki are a pair of scissors & she takes interest in hairdressing. i love how the red in her hair contrasts with the green in the rest of her design. i love how she pulls out a gun in the middle of a fight. reminds me of a video i watched about csm a while ago... i think it was called "how anime made guns scary?" if you can find it, lmk... i've been meaning to rewatch it.
basically, she's got crazy aura.
